another addition to my animals in a long canvas series. i really love lions so i was happy to make one finally. yhis piece is inspired by the the white lions (which are not albino, but rather a leucistic variation of the regular south african lion) at the timbavati private Nature and kruger national park, which remain some of the only wild spaces where confirmed white lions naturally occur. as with all odd colors though i’d really hesitate to go to institutions where white lions have been bred in captivity on purpose as that can be a sign that there is breeding being done for entertainment as oppose to preservation. that being said, since white lions can occur randomly in the wild due to genetics, there is always a chance a zoo or preserve never tried to breed a white lion and it just happened. as always please avoid for-profit zoos, and try to attend (if you go at all) non-profit institutions! just be aware and do your research before visiting
